Library Life

Libraries have always been one of Jannah's favorite places. She loves the books and computers (that's where she first played Oregon Trail!), but most of all, she loved the staff at her school and public libraries growing up. Growing up bullied, ostracized, and unable to make friends with peers, school librarians created a safe haven during recess and after school where she was accepted, welcomed, respected, and cherished for who she was. She helped by giving her opinions on books when asked (and probably even when she wasn't), working the circulation desk, repairing books, helping with the book fair and reading stories to younger students, served on the teen advisory board, and lots more. She liked many of her teachers, but Mrs. Kona, Ms. Price, Sammy, and Ms. Bybee at the public library were - and still are! - some of her absolute favorite humans and she still keeps in touch with some of them!
